STUDENT CHAPTERS
The NACE Boston Student Chapters at Boston University and Lasell College are dedicated to serving the catering and events industry by helping to develop highly qualified, well-prepared professionals.
BENEFITS |
NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES
One of the most valuable benefits of the NACE Student Chapter is the monthly meetings with the Professional Chapter. Attending monthly meetings allows students to meet professional NACE members and make connections. Each meeting is held at a different location in the Boston area and has either an educational program, renowned speaker or trend insight; as well as a networking portion. Past meeting locations have been: The Hampshire House, Langham Hotel, Granite Links Golf Club, Smith & Wollensky, Lombardo’s and the list goes on! These meetings are the perfect opportunity to branch out and meet other students, vendors and professionals within your industry. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES The student chapter offers many ways for students to be awarded scholarships. The scholarships offered are a mixture of both merit and need-based, so there is no excuse for a student member to not apply! There are three different types of scholarships that students can qualify for: The Vince DeFinis and Foundation of NACE Scholarship, NACE Boston Student Chapter Scholarship and Student Chapter Experience! Conference Scholarship. CAREER, VOLUNTEER + INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES The NACE Boston website and NACE Student Chapter has a dedicated group page with volunteer, career and internship opportunities posted regularly. Students can take advantage of being the first to know when a NACE member needs help or a position filled if they are part of the student chapter. STUDENT RUN PROGRAM The Student Chapter has the opportunity to present to the NACE Boston Chapter their own meeting/program in March 2017. This student run and student managed program gives student members the opportunity to run their own monthly meeting and showcase what they have learned throughout their student career. Members love to attend this student run program because it gives them insight on the new latest trends from a younger generation. It also gives all members a chance to see what potential the each student possesses to become the future of the event industry. PARTICIPATION IN A COMMITTEE Any student chapter member can be part of a committee to assist the NACE Boston Professional Board. For instance, the Program Chairs often need assistance in planning and setting up the monthly NACE meetings, so students can help out with this process by being part of their committee. Feeding our Neighbors, NACE Boston’s Community Service Organization is also a great project that needs committee members. The professional board members always need assistance with their board duties, so forming or being part of a committee is a great way to help them and learn more about the board's responsibilities. |
